Being Right

You are obsessed with being right.
No, this does not mean you are a narcissist.
It means the experience of being right confirms your brain’s need to validate its predicted reality.

The desire to be right is an incidental byproduct of natural cognitive function.
This is why feeling validated is both rewarding and an intrinsic motivator.
The pitfall is you will argue against objective reality to accomplish this.

Next time you find your team getting fixated on a particular perspective, ask: what role is validating a predicted reality playing?
Your job as a leader is to challenge the status quo; this involves creating new realities.
Creating new realities and being right are often incompatible.
